ABOUT ME
Rosa Franco Mendoza
A photographer, a career, a perspective. Born in Barcelona, my university education, professional experience at Correos and discovery of photography in 2006 eventually became a personal investigation into architecture, memory and place.
THE JOURNEY
THE TRANSFORMATION
I don’t just aim to record what’s in front of me. I observe, select and transform reality into a visual narrative. My photography seeks out what often goes unnoticed: an empty space, a structure, a trace, or the intimate relationship between architecture and people.
THE GAZE
OBSERVATION
I’m not someone who arrives, takes a shot and leaves. My work takes time. I focus on studying the light, waiting for the right moment, moving through the space, finding the frame and discovering which subtle element will become the subject.
THE PROCESS
PERSISTENCE
My projects have something that cannot be manufactured: persistence. "Stated Values" is a very clear example of this. It is not a project completed quickly; behind it are years of photography, research, documentation, selection, editing and production. Discipline is what turns a simple idea into a solid project.
DISCIPLINE
THE CONTENT
I don’t photograph buildings solely for their architectural interest; I’m interested in what they have to say. A façade speaks of an era. A staircase, of the passage of time. An empty space reveals social change. A person shows the relationship between the body and the territory. Images work best when they lead into one another and build a narrative.
THE STORY
MANIFESTO
Looking beyond what is visible. I don't just aim to show what things look like; I seek to interpret them. Architecture, memory, territory, the body, communication, migration and the city appear as interconnected layers. Photography is my tool for understanding the world, but also for encouraging viewers to look at it again.
THE CONCEPT
A reflection on my perspective, my process, and my understanding of photography.
Education, professional experience and artistic journey.
