POST AND TELEGRAPHS

The L'Hospitalet de Llobregat Post and Telegraph Building was designed in 1926 by municipal architect Ramon Puig i Gairalt (L'Arboç, 1886 – Barcelona, 1937) and inaugurated on 23 October 1927, attended by Queen Victoria Eugenia, the infantas and the leading civil authorities of the time.

Located in Plaça del Repartidor, the building is part of the urban transformation that L'Hospitalet underwent during the first decades of the 20th century. The development of the square and construction of the new Post Office responded to population growth and the need to provide the city with new public facilities.

Built in the Noucentista style, the building occupies a corner plot and stands out for its polygonal corner volume, conceived as a small tower that gives the whole building its character. Its architecture combines classical restraint with Art Deco influences, characteristic of the work of Ramon Puig i Gairalt.

It is currently listed as a Local Cultural Heritage Site (BCIL) and is one of the most representative institutional buildings in L'Hospitalet's architectural heritage.

Beyond their architectural value, these buildings are part of the collective memory of cities and the history of communications in Spain. My photographic work aims to preserve that legacy for future generations.
