Tijuana

Tijuana is one of the most significant borders in the contemporary world. Its proximity to California has made the city a place of encounter, movement and contrast, where diverse cultures, economies and social realities converge.

In this context, an ephemeral architecture takes shape, built from reused materials and improvised solutions that respond to the immediate needs of those who live in or cross the border. Self-built homes, informal settlements, and temporary structures form a changing landscape that speaks of adaptation, mobility, and survival.

More than a geographical boundary, the border takes shape as a space of continuous exchange and transformation, where the territory reflects the complex social, economic and human dynamics that characterise life along the border.
